Oxandrolone, commonly known as Anavar, is an oral anabolic steroid derived from dihydrotestosterone (DHT) that’s widely used to support lean muscle retention, recovery, and strength. Dosing varies based on use: men typically take 15–25 mg daily, with advanced users occasionally going up to 50 mg, while women typically use 5–10 mg daily, with close monitoring to avoid virilization symptoms.

Although oxandrolone is considered a mild oral steroid, it still carries potential risks. Side effects may include testosterone suppression in men not on TRT, elevated liver enzymes, unfavorable changes in cholesterol levels, and androgenic effects like acne, hair loss (in genetically prone individuals), or mood swings. Women should watch for early signs of voice deepening or excess hair growth and discontinue use if they occur.

To reduce risks, users are encouraged to limit cycle length, monitor liver function and cholesterol levels, and consider supportive supplements like NAC, TUDCA, and omega-3s. When used responsibly under medical supervision, oxandrolone offers a well-tolerated and highly effective option for improving muscle quality, recovery, and overall performance.
